Job description

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Commerce – Major in MIS or equivalent

Training/Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 or more years experience in the development and support of enterprise resource planning (ERP) for a distribution or manufacturing applications in online, database and UNIX environment.

General Skills:

  • Strong ability in understanding software requirements and specifications
  • Strong ability in developing software program specifications and algorithm
  • Strong ability in maintaining, testing, debugging, troubleshooting software
  • Self-initiative and ability to learn new applications areas as well as new software technology
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks
  • Good presentation skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

    Technical Skills:

  • Operating Systems: UNIX
  • Database: Oracle, Informix, Postgres
  • Programming Languages: C/C++ and/or COBOL

General Statement of Duties

  • Review software requirements and specifications
  • Assist manager or senior developer in the preparation of software architecture
  • Software maintenance, development, documentation, troubleshooting
  • Provide technical assistance and advice to Customer Services as required
  • Follow Company and development policies and processes

Specific Duties

Review software requirements and specifications

  • Review and understand software requirements and specifications from Product Design in preparation for implementation discussions with Manager

     Software Architecture

  • Occasionally, assist Group Manager and/or senior applications developer to develop the software architecture, prepare architecture diagrams for software projects, break-down project into software components for implementation

     Software Maintenance, Development, Documentation, Troubleshooting

  • Develop a good level of subject matter expertise and understanding in one or more application domains
  • Prepare development artifacts including UI/Service interaction diagram, source table derivation, applications service specs, logic diagrams and other artifacts as required
  • Perform impact analysis for implementing new functions as well as modifications to existing functions
  • Program, test, debug troubleshoot software for the company’s products
  • Follow development and documentation processes as mandated by the Development Manager

Provide assistance to Customer Services

  • When required, assist customer services staff in problem analysis and troubleshooting at customer sites or in QA environments

Effort
