2577 – Administrator, IT Systems and Networks – Permanent

Description du poste

Under the leadership of the Manager, IT Systems Administration, the Administrator, IT Systems and Networks is responsible for the analytical, technical and administrative components of existing centralized information systems (Servers, Telephony and Telecommunications). He/she must ensure that selected technologies meet the service goals set by the organization and he/she must execute technical projects related to the deployment of new technologies, together with the project team. He/she also supervises the installation, maintenance and coordination of system and communication software, groupware and office automation in order to ensure reliability and performance.

  • Manage the active directory;
  • Correct variances and document processes;
  • Follow change control procedure and project management methods. Review and provide regular reports on project infrastructure and status;
  • Update logical and physical environments;
  • Manage SAN and related equipement (Fiber Channel switches);
  • Manage escalated alerts issued by monitoring tools such as MOM and Solarwinds;
  • Manage problem tickets opened at all levels;
  • Ensure problem solving and search for root causes;
  • Document incidents and modify processes as required;
  • Communicate information to colleagues;
  • Ensure the department’s objectives are met;
  • Manage activity planning;
  • Manage capacity and performance of WAN and LANs;
  • Manage network applications, equipment and printers;
  • Correct variances and document the processes;
  • Update logical and physical environments;
  • Ensure updating and maintenance of external communication sites;
  • Provide level 3 support to the user support center, and multi-level support during week-end shifts.
    • Assist and coach first-level support staff;
    • Take charge of technical problems linked to Windows environments under his/her responsibility;
    • Whenever necessary, contact suppliers to obtain the required technical assistance;
    • Plan, test and implement fixes, and follow-up on active problems until complete and permanent solutions are in place;
  • Provide technological support to office automation and telephony environments.
    •   Troubleshoot and solve problems related to computers and peripheral equipment;
    • Set, configure and install new systems;
    • Communicate with clients to specify the type of hardware and software required;
    • Install new hardware and maintain existing hardware, supervise technological updates (firmware, anti-virus, patches and operating systems);
  • Follow up on service levels
    • Resolve problems assigned to him/her;
    • Identify and communicate trends;
  • Ensure the department’s objectives are met;
  • Participate in the development and evolution of technological environments in the sector 
  • Support all management units in managing: project execution, human, financial and material resources, and manage service agreements
    • Conduct regular follow-up, and communicate the projects’ progress and variances;
    •  Analyze the projects’ evolution and submit recommendations on issues and risks; 
  • Make sure the technological infrastructure’s capacity is adequate to meet the company’s needs, while remaining within budget.
    • Perform feasibility analyses on operational projects, and ensure the implementation of recommended solutions, where required;
    • Participate in planning the sector’s activities;
  • Ensure technology watch. Act as technical expert internally and externally with regard to important technological issues related to his/her area of activity  
    • Actively participate in the technology watch related to his/her area of activity.
      • Determine the issues, technological direction, trends and targets tied to the sectors’ business needs;
      • Keep abreast of current technological issues with regard to equipment and systems. Evaluate new hardware and software technologies, and provide an analysis and recommendations to the IT team and to management;

  • Authorized to stop all work and coordinate employees during production incidents;
  • Authorized to select necessary tools and methods to conduct the activities;
  • Execute and coordinate computer system evolution projects related to his/her field of activity;
  • Be available if necessary, on call, by rotation, and prolonged hours based on Production needs;
  • Participate in extended hours rotation cycles which affect a small number of predetermined week-ends.

Compétences recherchées

  • University degree in IT, or relevant experience;
  • Expertise in managing network infrastructures, server technologies, succession technologies, storage solutions and SAN (preferably EMC). Minimum of 10 years experience as network administrator;
  • Experience in the following technologies: VMWare, Windows 2003/2008 and higher, Active Directory, IP Protocoles, PC and network hardware components, network technology (routers, switches, mainly Cisco), Microsoft software such as Exchange 2007, DFS, DPM;
  • In-depth knowledge of following fields: SQL Server 2005 and higher, Firewall, Symantec Netbackup, Citrix, Microsoft Operation Manager, IIS, Solarwind, Sharepoint (administration);
  • Client-oriented communication skills, ability to explain and provide customer service;
  • Ability to establish targets, measure results in a context of continuous improvement;
  • Good resistance to stress. Able to manage several priorities simultaneously;
  • Analytical mind, capacity for synthesizing, team spirit, self-starter, good task management, multidisciplinary approach, professional curiosity and bilingualism (French and English);
  • Knowledge of ITIL procedures would be an asset;
  • Knowledge of administering an SAP Basis environment on Windows would be an asset;
  • Basic knowledge of telephony over IP would be an asset;
  • Project-minded person who has a history of delivering results.
